Job Description
Intended as an entry level position, the technician performs daily activities leading to completion of short and long-term projects as directed by the lab manager or chemist. In addition, the person will perform general lab maintenance and house cleaning activities.
Essential DutiesEssential Duties are those that are critical, integral, necessary, crucial, primary, and/or fundamental to the role.
- Assemble trial/check batches.
- Perform physical testing of samples.
- Record results of testing and batch check.
- Adjust trial/check batches to meet specifications.
- Maintain project database for assigned projects.
- Prepare panels to specification, label, and transmit to customer.
- Participate in maintenance of ISO systems.
- Will from time to time be required to transfer hazardous wastes (filters, rags, scrap paint and solvents) to the satellite hazardous waste area.
- Must also be aware of the labeling requirements for the hazardous waste container as part of their job function.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements- High school diploma, experience in coatings field a plus.
- Employee must have RCRA hazardous waste training within 6 months of assuming job duties.
- Employee must complete all online safety training as outlined in the for the coil lab.
- Employee must be trained and competent in all relevant ISO coil lab processes.
- Employee must have training on yearly on Emergency planning, including fire safety.
- Employee must be familiar with SWPPP.
- Needs to be able to manage duties listed above. Should be computer literate and be able to be trained in company specific software (ERP, project management, Color software, Beckry Mix and others). Have good verbal and written communication skills. Proficient math skills, knowledge of metric and English measurement systems.
- Color matching experience is a plus.
- Recognize that health and safety is an obligation of every employee and to take reasonable care of oneself and others and to comply with Beckers Health and Safety policy and any Beckers procedures/rules that apply to the role. All employees have the responsibility to highlight unsafe conditions and EHS Managers, Officers, Supervisors and above have the responsibility to shut down any activity if it is operating in an unsafe condition.
- Employee must bend, sit, squat, walk, climb, push/pull heavy objects using appropriate equipment.
- Employee must reach above shoulder level, use fine finger movements.
- Employee may be exposed at times to excessive noise, moving machinery, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity.
- Employee may be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, and chemicals.
- Employee must be able to carry/lift loads of up to 50 lbs.
- Employee must be able to distinguish color.

Compensation$45,000-$45,000 per year
