Provide leadership in plant Operations, provide input to support all strategic, operational and policy aspects of the Edlong 65 King St. facility in the areas of safety, quality, performance, management, and organizational. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies.

This position is also responsible for all day-to-day production, including production planning, production supervision, and staffing.

This role will support manufacturing process optimization including but not limited to our manufacturing facility and pilot plants. The position identifies and leads the implementation of improvement projects that guarantee excellence in overall facilities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Leadership & Strategy
  • Oversee and synchronize departmental activities at the King St. facility to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Design, launch, and refine operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and output.
  • Steer strategic planning and execution of operational initiatives in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Champion cost optimization strategies, including labor efficiency, capacity utilization, and expense reduction.
  • Administer departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and analyze financial performance to boost profitability.
Talent Management & Organizational Development
  • Direct recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts to build a skilled and engaged workforce.
  • Establish organizational frameworks, assign responsibilities, and structure work schedules.
  • Mentor, coach, and assess staff performance across multiple shifts.
  • Cultivate a culture of operational excellence through continuous talent development.
  • Ensure all plant personnel are properly trained and compliant with company standards.
Production & Quality Assurance
  • Coordinate production, warehousing, pricing, and distribution to meet delivery timelines and quality benchmarks.
  • Safeguard product integrity through collaboration with Operations and Food Safety & Quality teams.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and SSOPs, audit annually for relevance.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee product testing and sampling to verify quality standards.
  • Uphold cleanliness and housekeeping protocols throughout the facility.
Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with sales, marketing, customer support, HR, IT, R&D, and Food Safety & Quality to support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Anticipate operational needs for campaigns, staffing, and company-wide projects.
  • Drive improvements in customer service metrics such as on-time delivery, damage/loss rates, and complaint resolution.
  • Enhance internal service levels through team development and performance standards.
Compliance & Safety
  • Enforce regulatory, quality, and safety compliance across all operations.
  • Promote a safe and clean work environment through employee education and policy adherence.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
  • Manage inventory levels and secure necessary supplies.
  • Supervise shipping and receiving operations at the 65 King St. site.
  • Generate and track purchase orders for projects and supplies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will manage Operations staff.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge base by sponsoring or attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
  • Support the alignment of business practices, processes and procedures.
