Position Title:
Non-Destructive Testing Production Manager
Reports To: Director of Operations
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL (Offering a relocation package for right candidate)
Position Overview:The NDT Production Manager provides leadership, develops talent, and applies strong business acumen to achieve quality, on-time delivery, and profitability targets for the NDT team.
Key Responsibilities:- Safety & Compliance: Promote a safety-first culture; ensure compliance with OSHA, FAA, ISO 9001, AS9100D, NADCAP, and other relevant regulations.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing, cross-trained team with a focus on quality, efficiency, inclusion, and accountability. Interact with customers and suppliers as needed.
- Training & Certification: Oversee the training, examination, and certification NDT Level I, II, and III technicians. Ensure technical competency and regulatory compliance.
- Quality Management: Guide teams to meet internal and external quality standards. Support audits and respond to customer quality concerns. Approve test procedures and interpret technical codes and standards.
- Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement through Lean and Six Sigma methods. Analyze root causes of underperformance and implement corrective actions.
- Technical Oversight: Approve testing techniques and procedures; ensure accurate documentation, including work orders, certifications, and process documentation.
- Inventory & Equipment: Monitor material usage and rotation; manage equipment functionality and submit ROI requests for capital expenditures as needed. labor and material costs to achieve gross profit targets. Prepare and manage departmental budgets and capital justifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience with ASNT Level III (MT, PT, RT), or Level II with intent to achieve Level III within 12 months.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in an aerospace or job shop environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, GD&T, technical drawing interpretation, and knowledge of wastewater systems.
- Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations.
- Strong ethical and professional standards.
- Effective communication, conflict resolution, and persuasive skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and time management capabilities.

- Mix of office and production floor work.
- Occasional long hours; 50% walking/standing, 30% desk work, 20% physical tasks.
- Able to lift up to 15 lbs., perform manual tasks, and work with close visual and auditory attention.
