Pay: $85,000 - $95,000 (+ bonus)
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL (onsite)
Position OverviewProvide engineering support to optimize workflows, troubleshoot problems, and ensure compliance with aerospace and defense specifications and requirements. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, customers, and suppliers to maintain high standards of quality and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities- Provide engineering support to optimize workflows and resolve production issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to meet quality expectations.
- Support compliance with industry standards such as AS9100 and Nadcap.
- Participate in process improvement activities within a team‑based environment.
- Develop and maintain process metrics to evaluate effectiveness and drive improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective actions, providing training as necessary.
- Monitor non‑conformance trends and evaluate corrective action effectiveness.
- Assist in the preparation, execution, and completion of quality audits.
- Promote and comply with safety regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Engineering or technical degree, or equivalent experience required.
- Hands‑on experience in a production or manufacturing environment; special processing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology, Lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools. ASQ certification preferred.
- Familiarity with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and First Article Inspection (FAI).
- Skilled in root cause problem‑solving methods such as 8D, A3, DMAIC, and 5 Whys.
- Experience with ERP, MRP, CRM, Microsoft Office, and engineering drafting/modeling tools.
- Strong skills in quantitative data analysis, measurement systems, and reporting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to write technical reports and procedures.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Advanced computer literacy preferred.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
