About the RoleAs an Area Supervisor, you will manage a specific area of the store and sometimes act as Manager on Duty. Your responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a welcoming environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and executing operational processes as needed.
Responsibilities- Maintain a safe & secure environment: monitor safety, report hazards, secure the building, test fire alarms, and respond to emergencies.
- Deliver customer service: treat customers, associates & leaders with respect, demonstrate courtesy, and recognize associates.
- Represent the Ross brand: uphold company appearance standards, enforce the dress code, and keep store areas clean and merchandised.
- Manage merchandising: oversee receipt, processing, and stockroom organization; handle back‑stock, floor moves, and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
- Implement loss prevention: participate in the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, conduct package inspections, and safeguard confidential information.
- Supervise front‑end operations: train associates on cash registers, shortage control, and best front‑end practices; manage front‑end pace and supplies.
- Maintain fitting rooms: clean and audit garment tags, ensure go‑back compliance, and secure returned merchandise.
- Perform administrative duties: handle cash pulls, bank deposits, payroll administration, and paperwork as assigned by the Store Manager.
- Demonstrate core competencies: manage work processes, exhibit business acumen, prioritize tasks, build talent, collaborate, lead by example, communicate effectively, and ensure accountability.
- Excellent verbal communication and fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
- Basic mathematical calculation skills for retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift up to 25 lbs., and use store equipment as required.
All store equipment usage, standing, walking, and moving within the store are required. The role may require lifting up to 25 lbs. and in some stockroom shifts, carrying more than 20 lbs. Other physical tasks include using janitorial equipment and ladders.
