Corrugator Supervisor Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the Corrugator Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the corrugator’s production in the facility. In this role the supervisor will communicate performance expectations to shift workers, ensure production targets and metrics are met to achieve production demands, supervise machine productivity and quality, and manage personnel on a daily basis. The supervisor coordinates all activities related to the management of personnel and production equipment in the corrugator department to support the press department according to the production schedule plan for the shift, mobilizes the workforce, and achieves health and safety goals, productivity, quality, services, and costs.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, plan and manage shift schedules to meet production goals, prioritize work orders, maintain quality requirements, and assure an even flow of work to increase uptime and minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Schedule work, coordinate production activities, provide direct oversight of employees, approve time records, communicate and implement company policy, engage in employee development activities, and make recommendations on hiring, promotion and disciplinary action.
  • Maintain a injury‑free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and executed by all employees.
  • Conduct employee training on all equipment, protocols, regulations, and waste control on an ongoing basis.
  • Perform all quality control tests in accordance with combined board specifications.
  • Verify the quality of jobs and help investigate any customer complaints.
  • Supervise efficient operation of the corrugator, including the inspection of materials, products and equipment to detect and/or prevent malfunctions; assist in troubleshooting any slowdown or other problems.
  • Analyze corrugator performance, identify opportunities, recommend process and equipment improvements, establish goals, and execute strategy.
  • Participate in production meetings and provide updates as needed.
  • Communicate closely with scheduling to detect discrepancies and assure production requirements are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of activity, including daily downtime reports, roll logs and material utilization.
  • Plan, direct, control, evaluate and supervise all production activities at the corrugator level.
  • Actively contribute to achieving and exceeding objectives related to health and safety, food quality/safety, productivity, continuous improvement and reliability.
  • Apply and ensure rigorous following of health and safety procedures and regulations.
  • Manage the team according to HR rules, regulations, policies and practices.
  • Evaluate the labor force for probation, performance, attendance and training results as required.
  • Plan work to maximize efficiency.
  • Manage the level and competence of personnel required for operations.
  • Respect priorities and serve customers.
  • Act as technical support to production staff when necessary.
  • Monitor and resolve non-conformities and corrective measures.
  • Ensure good manufacturing practices and operational procedures are followed.
  • Clarify and respond to requests from employees, colleagues and clients.
  • Participate in maintaining good working relationships.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in department operations.
  • Notify the quality and SQF coordinator of any food quality/safety problem.
  • Perform any other tasks requested by the supervisor.
Skills and Abilities
  • Experience supervising in a fast‑paced, quality‑intensive, BRC Food Safety Certified manufacturing environment.
  • Strong employee development skills; mobilize and coach.
  • Excellent Lean / Continuous Improvement skills.
  • Knowledge of Kiwi Plan, JDE, SAP or CTI business systems preferred.
  • Ability to relate to people and develop trusting relationships.
  • Ability to communicate and make presentations to groups.
  • Quickly analyze production problems and propose solutions.
  • Teamwork: collaborate and share relevant information to ensure uniform and efficient management of the workforce.

Qualifications

Academic

  • Required:

    High School diploma or GED with equivalent experience.
  • Preferred:
    Post‑secondary degree in a technical field or any operational related experience.

Experience

  • 3‑5 years in a leadership role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Corrugated industry experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work in high temperature & humidity conditions while wearing proper PPE including hearing protection, steel‑toe shoes and safety glasses.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
