General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store, as well as general operations and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and executing company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything you do.
  • Maintain high safety awareness on the sales floor, correct unsafe conditions, and report them to Store Leadership.
  • Secure the building: entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
  • Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensure customer safety, accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Recognize associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards through teaching and follow‑up.
  • Receive merchandise trucks and non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Process all merchandise with urgency.
  • Keep stockrooms clean and organized.
  • Deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor after processing.
  • Secure and process back‑stock per company policy.
  • Control loss by reducing damage and theft.
  • Prepare floor moves and promotional sign‑ings as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
  • Maintain a customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card, and merchandise data.
  • Maintain proper PVM system operation.
  • Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Execute best practices to maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensure associates at the front end meet company standards.
  • Maintain pace, energy, and presence at the front end, managing lines.
  • Train associates on cash register use, shortage control, and other front‑end procedures.
  • Control associate break schedules for backups, lunches, and breaks.
  • Ensure all equipment functions properly.
  • Maintain supplies and recovery for the front end.
  • Ensure go‑backs are expedited, scanned, tagged, and ticketed.
  • Teach the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end and specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain and clean fitting rooms.
