A growing food manufacturing operation within a temperature-controlled production environment is seeking a skilled HVAC & Refrigeration Technician to support the continuous operation of our frozen food manufacturing and warehouse facility. This role is critical to maintaining precise temperature control across production and storage areas to ensure product integrity, operational efficiency, and full compliance with food safety standards.
The position requires strong troubleshooting abilities, the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively, and a consistent commitment to maintaining high performance and safety standards. It is ideal for a technician who takes pride in technical craftsmanship, problem-solving, and ensuring that all HVAC and refrigeration systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Full-Time | On-Site | Northern NJ (Yummy Acai Manufacturing Facility)
Key Responsibilities:- Inspect, diagnose, and repair HVAC and industrial refrigeration systems, including walk-in freezers and refrigerated storage areas
- Maintain stable temperature and airflow to support frozen product integrity and food safety standards
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, ventilation, and freezer systems
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
- Respond to urgent system failures to minimize production downtime
- Assist in planning repairs, replacements, and system upgrades with Maintenance leadership
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service documentation
- Manage parts inventory and tools
- Ensure compliance with facility safety and sanitation standards
Experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on HVAC and refrigeration service experience
- Experience working in industrial, warehouse, or food manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- EPA 608 Certification (required)
- NJ HVAC license preferred (if applicable)
- Ability to interpret schematics, service manuals, and control diagrams
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with maintenance and production teams
- Comfortable working in freezer environments and temperature-controlled areas
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in:
- Walk-in freezers
- Mechanical rooms
- Warehouse production areas
- Elevated platforms/rooftops when required
- May require on-call availability to support Saturday’s operations
Competitive hourly rate: $30 – $35 per hour, based on experience and certifications
