Under direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor or Manager, the Floor Technician Attendant will perform semi-skilled and skilled cleaning duties. Primarily responsible for all aspects of floor care; stripping of existing floor finish and applying new finish. Also responsible for all aspects of carpet care from vacuuming, spot cleaning and deep extraction of carpeted surfaces. This position is responsible for sanitation, safety, equipment and other items directly or indirectly affecting the Environmental Services’ employees.

Employee must be able to follow the policies and procedures for infection control and standard precautions. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

• Performs restoration or project cleaning procedures in order to maintain the appearance of the building at a high level. This includes stripping and refinishing floors, using industrial ride on floor maintenance equipment. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Informs supervisor when supplies are needed before supply is exhausted.
• Dust mops and damp mops or vacuums corridors in order to maintain their cleanliness and appearance.
• All associates shall follow the applicable steps required to perform their duties to ensure safety for themselves and others, and to be in compliance with the medical center, state and federal safety standards. Examples of such steps may include: performing proper safety procedures and precautions; reporting safety concerns and incidents, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Moves furniture and equipment as requested in order to allow for relocation, redecoration, or restorative cleaning of areas within the medical center.
• Performs daily cleaning procedures in non-patient and in-patient areas and restrooms as required by supervision in order to provide coverage when staff shortages occur.
• Removes trash to the trash compactor or waste storage area to insure it is disposed of properly.
• Responsible for the set-up of meetings and the distribution of audio visual equipment.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services based on the applicable principles of growth and development over the life span of those they serve.
• Attends in-service programs and completes Net Learning modules as required.

• Ability to read and write; ability to be trained and follow directions

• Ability to do heavy lifting up to 60 lbs.

• 6 months prior experience in hard floor restoring/restoration including carpet care.
