The Office of Student Success and Retention (OSSR) supports the university’s goals associated with retention and persistence through the provision of academic supports and early intervention strategies that promote student success. OSSR is comprised of three professional areas that are crucial to the mission of the university:
Academic Advising (First‑Year and Transfer), Tutorial & Academic Support Services, and Retention. The Office provides a myriad of workshops, activities, and programming that promote a successful college transition, student development and self‑efficacy, academic and personal success, engagement, timely graduation, and lifelong learning from the first year to graduation.
The Retention Coordinator will research, develop, and assess best practices that improve retention, persistence, and support targeted programming to assist the student population academically, personally, and professionally. With enrollment and retention as high‑level priorities, the incumbent will collaborate with faculty, various student support services professionals, and students to enhance retention and graduation rates. The Retention Coordinator will supervise and lead Retention Specialists within the office.
Occasional work beyond normal working hours, such as evenings and weekends, may be required.

- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with administrators, faculty and students.
- Ability to identify, collect, analyze, compile, and utilize student success data, presenting them in written and verbal form.
- Excellent analytical skills in interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.
- Strong functional knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience working with a diverse population of students.
- Working knowledge of educational services related to enrollment management, student retention, and student success.
- Working knowledge of Banner, E4U (EAB Navigate), Degree Works, Canvas, and other student academic success platforms is strongly preferred.
A master’s degree with a minimum of three years of professional higher education experience in a position directly related to retention, student success, student academic support services, or an associated field. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience in assessment of student support and/or retention services.
