Lauriston Girls’ School seeks to employ an experienced and enthusiastic
Teacher of Saxophone/Clarinet for approximately 5 hours per week,for Terms 1 & 2, 2026.
This casual position includes approximately 2.25 hours per week of group saxophone tuition as part of the semester-long Year 5 Band Program and approximately 2.5 hours of private clarinet/saxophone tuition.
The Year 5
Band Program includes 3 x 45-minute weekly sessions for the duration of Semester
1. Availability to teach between 8.30am and
12.30pm on Fridays is essential.
- Be adynamic, innovative, and motivating Saxophone/Clarinet specialist, with demonstrated experience teaching beginner to intermediate level musicians
- Bewilling to work collaboratively with the Acting Year 5 Band Program Coordinator to inspire student engagement in theschool’s woodwind program and support the recruitment of Saxophone students
- Have experience working within a Junior Band Program context and demonstrated ability to manage small groups of students
- Encourage student involvement in the school’s co-curricular bandand orchestral ensemble programs, in order to develop the woodwind culture at Lauriston
- Bewilling to incorporate technology and other elements of contemporary curriculum into their lessons
- Utilisea range of strategies and skills to engage young musicians,supporting them to develop an intrinsic interest in the studyof Saxophone/Clarinet
- Bewilling to work collaboratively with families, utilising appropriate methods of communication to ensure students can be supported to practise successfully at home
- Experience teaching within a Kodály framework is highly desirable
Qualifications:
- Acollaborative teaching approach is essential for working as amember of the Lauriston Music Department
- Acurrent VIT registration or Working with Children Check is required
