A healthcare professional with specialized skills in pediatric nursing is needed to provide dedicated 1:1 care in a school setting. This role focuses on supporting a student requiring medical assistance with feeding and diabetes management, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the school day.

Location:

Elgin, IL (with duties at a school near St. Charles, IL)
Contract position within a school environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 nursing care to a student requiring G-tube feedings (approximately eight times daily)
• Perform diabetic care, including blood glucose monitoring using Blue Loop technology
• Administer insulin and accurately count carbohydrates to manage blood sugar levels
• Collaborate with school staff and parents to maintain consistent care and communication
• Monitor the student's health status closely and respond promptly to any medical needs or emergencies
• Maintain accurate documentation of nursing interventions and observations

Qualifications and

Experience:

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with a current state license
• Experience in pediatric nursing, particularly with students requiring complex medical care
• Knowledge of diabetes management, including insulin administration and carb counting
• Comfort with G-tube feeding procedures and monitoring
• Ability to work collaboratively within a school setting while maintaining student confidentiality
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
