Principal Food Scientist

The Principal Food Scientist is responsible for providing leadership and ownership of new product development, innovation, and product optimization initiatives. In this role, you will develop, execute, and validate new product and process opportunities while coaching scientists and technicians. Technical project management, consumer research collaboration, and process improvement are key aspects of this position. You’ll work cross-functionally to deliver company objectives.

• 35% (E): Lead new product development projects from prototype to execution. Manage technical teams, assess risks, and execute consumer tests.
• 15% (E): Partner with marketing on new concepts, influencing research and development strategy.
• 10% (E): Improve processes, document procedures, and stay current on food trends and technologies.
• 15% (E): Leverage external suppliers for raw materials and sensory evaluation.
• 10% (E): Collaborate across the organization (QA, manufacturing, sales, marketing).
• 10% (E): Work with internal and external stakeholders on product development, innovation, and technical services.
• 5% (E): Document raw material and finished good specifications.

• Ensuring safe and quality food production.
• Maintaining preventative controls for food safety.
• Reporting food safety and quality issues promptly.
• Sharing knowledge and enhancing competencies.

• Bachelor’s degree in food science/technology or related field.
