Kellenberger is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, conducting incoming inspections, defect reporting and supporting production teams to help with machine build. This role plays a key part in preventing incoming defects, identifying root causes of quality issues, reporting non-conformances, reviewing NCRs with the Quality Manager and Engineering Team, and supporting production team in machine builds to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Inspection & Quality Control
- Perform incoming inspections to check raw materials and components.
- Investigate quality issues, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prevent defective parts from entering the production line.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all safety regulations and protocols are followed in the inspection area.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and use inspection tools safely.
- Communication & Writing
- Enter electronic reports into the Non-Conformance System for review with the Quality manager and Engineering Team.
- Work closely with production staff and the engineering team to ensure a clear understanding of quality standards.
- Participate in quality control meetings to discuss ongoing inspection findings.
- Inspection Scheduling & Tool Management
- Manage inspection priority to prevent production delays.
- Maintain and track measuring tools for shop floor use.
- Ensure inspection equipment is properly stored and secured. Inspect and report overdue calibration tools.
- Coordinate recertification of overdue calibration with manager and production supervisor
- Basic manual/power tool silks
- Support the machine-building team with basic component rework and repairs, including hole tapping, paint touch-up, deburring, and basic material removal.
- Operate power tools such as cutting saws, bead-blast machines, grinders, and other basic shop tools.
- Continuous Improvement & Audits
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend equipment upgrades.
- Conduct guided internal audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations. (e.g. 5S self-check)
- Training & Development
- Train cross functional team on inspection processes, quality standards, and equipment usage.
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Basic computer and data entry skills include email messaging, attending remote meetings and electronic reporting.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and quality standards.
- Experience in quality inspection, machine manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiar with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers and other common inspection tools, CMM experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
