We are currently looking for a full-time, Slitter Operator to support our Elgin plant.

Compensation: $24/hr

When your actions lead to success:

• Operate slitter in a safe and efficient way; trouble‑shoot and correct problems as needed, with assistance from the Supervisor.
• Splice rolls in such a way that no blocking on the under‑layer occurs.
• Lift off rewind shafts from slitter with help of Slitter Assistant; re‑thread the shafts.
• Complete required paperwork in written English neatly and accurately; make sure that all written instructions on order sheet, and other instructions, are followed.
• Maintain proper level of oxydry power in reservoir.
• Maintain slitter and work area in a clean condition.
• Report any equipment or material problems to team/team leader immediately for prompt correction of problem.
• Participate in general clean up following shift change.
• Clean each roll rack before it leaves your work area.
• Responsible for all in process inspection, communicating any possible defects to downstream processes.
• Communicating issues to other departments via roll tags, comments in digital format, signage on rolls.
• Operator is responsible for quality of all product, and communication associated with their rolls.

When your expertise drives us:

• Proficiency in operating heavy cutting and sawing equipment, and knowledge of safety instructions and procedures for such equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to mechanically lift heavy loads in a safe way.
• Good communication skills in the English language (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
