The Product Development Engineer VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) is responsible for excellent, efficient and agile implementation of the new product concepts into new product releases, with special focus on VAVE projects and supporting peers with bringing value engineering into their product designs. The PDE assumes the design responsibility for the development results of the tasks and projects assigned about function, producibility and costs.

The PDE will collaborate with customers in order to define technical requirements, create feasibility studies and conduct designing at customer site. HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to HARTING customers and positions itself as the go-to source expert for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard product, designed-in value-added products, and Product Development initiatives.

• Be responsible for achieving the agreed goals of the development projects to be processed.
• Independently plan, organize and coordinate all required measures for implementing the assigned development projects and tasks.
• Conceive and develop products and components including arranging all required inspections and measures for testing/validating the development results.
• Continuous and efficient cooperation within the development group with other development departments and departments collaborating in PDP.
• Comply with legal and product-specific regulations, standards and specifications.
• Assess and evaluate all the resulting inspection and measuring results.
• Be responsible for the professional and prompt implementation of all assigned tasks and projects.
• Be responsible for creating the professional and production-oriented development documents with all relevant information.
• Coordinate with suppliers in cooperation with Purchasing and Industrial Engineering (IE).
• Qualify and release components and products. Arranges all inspections and measures required for this.
• Regularly compare the development progress with the customer.
• Qualify and release technical specifications based on design-ins made in collaboration with customers.
• Expertise on VAVE concept / process and have good experience in handling VE projects.
• Must have expertise in identifying the products for VAVE opportunity.
• Prior experience in leading the VAVE team shall be an added advantage.
• Must drive the team in achieving the VAVE savings goal set by the organization.

• Completed engineering studies in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or similar.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in a comparable position.
• Sound knowledge of Siemens NX or a similar 3D CAD system and MS-Office and SAP R/3.
• Strong communication skills in speaking with customers, excellent consultation expertise and persuasion skills.
• Strong team skills.
• Willingness to go on business trips for several days ≤ 20%.
