The Application Engineer is responsible for the process development including tooling selection, testing, startup, installation, and runoff for Kellenberger brand grinding and turning CNC machine tools.
EducationAssociates Degree in Engineering or Technical Certification Program preferred. Will consider non‑degreed applicants with relevant job experience.
Experience5‑7 years of CNC machine tool experience focused on grinding and turning applications. Previous experience interacting with customers is preferred.
Skills And Technical Knowledge- Working knowledge of Siemens, Fanuc, and Mitsubishi controls.
- Experience in G code and conversational programming.
- Experience in CAD / CAM CNC Programming.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Solid Works.
- JD Edwards or similar ERP experience is beneficial.
- Has ability to work well in a cross functional setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to represent Kellenberger in a professional manner.
- Review customer part requirements to determine fixturing, cutting tools, grinding wheels, and process for standard and turnkey projects.
- Conduct factory/customer site process acceptance and training both in‑house and at offsite facilities.
- Perform machine demonstrations, time studies, feasibility studies, and evaluate/process sample parts in support of sales.
- Provide Trade Show and Open House application support.
- Assist in prototype machine PLC and option testing of mechanical and control software functions.
- Provide technical phone support for customers, salespersons, and distributors.
- Attend training seminars and courses to stay current with technology.
Travel is expected 25‑50% of time for installation, training, and runoff. May include international travel.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and can lift 35 lbs.
