Summary of Primary Purpose The Upper School English Teacher will maintain an active, personal relationship with Christ. The teacher will possess high character and references that show a work history of representing Christ with integrity and character. They should be a team player, love families and students, and have a desire to see students grow in their knowledge of Christ and their ability to make future decisions.
The teacher will possess a strong knowledge of the Bible and current teaching methods. This position is for the 2nd semester of the 25-26 school year.

- Possess knowledge and understanding of the Christian philosophy of education that will enable him/her to provide leadership and guidance in the school’s development of and commitment to a Christian world view.
- Partner with the Administrative staff to understand the mission and standards that lead to successfully implementing the school’s curriculum.
- Integrate biblical principles and the Christian worldview throughout the curriculum and activities.
- Instruct classes as assigned, following the prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the administration.
- Ensure classroom reflects a safe, efficient, respectful, and Christian environment.
- Use a Daily Lesson plan and plan broadly using semester and quarterly plans and objectives.
- Contributing to school chapel and other activities that promote spiritual growth and community.
- Develop and implement a plan of study that provides an understanding and mastery of English standards.
- Build relationship with students to positively impact and disciple them in or towards a relationship with the Lord.
- Connecting biblical instruction to student’s lives, helping them to understand how faith applies to various situations and challenges.
- Guiding students in their spiritual development through prayer and discussion.
- Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
- Plan through approved channels a variety of modes including uses of field trips, guest speakers, and other media.
- Use homework effectively for skill development, review, enrichment, or project work.
- Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Demonstrate a system of regular parent communication to connect school and home.
- Respond in a timely manner to parent requests for help or information, or to parent complaints.
- Participate in formal and informal parent-teacher conferences.
- Participate in continuous professional development through professional reading, college coursework, and through attendance at in-service, workshops, and conferences.
- Seek and accept constructive evaluation of job performance; demonstrate a teachable spirit.
- Attend school devotions, staff meetings and events deemed necessary by Administration.
- Follow all school policies and procedures as set forth by the Administration.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding matters related to students, parents, faculty, and administration.
- Desire to grow in discipleship, serving, equipping, learning and leading
- Personal and growing relationship with Jesus and a humility to testify to it
- Ability to explain “What Harvest Bible Chapel Believes”
- Ability to pray with other employees, guests and attenders of the church
- Be an active, engaged and accountable in a biblically based church
- Facilitate the school’s culture that promotes the values of the school mission statement
