The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire an Office Associate for the Elgin Mental Health Center located in Elgin, Illinois. Working in the forensic building provides complex and difficult clerical work for the Security Department. The role includes taking minutes for a variety of committee meetings, creating, keyboarding, verifying, and proof‑reading documents, forms, and reports that use specialized medical and psychological terminology, and producing computerized reports, forms, flow charts, graphs, and statistical data.
The associate maintains a tickler file to track due dates for required reports and responses to external organizations, including the Office of Inspector General (OIG), and completes timekeeping for the Security Department.
- Provide complex clerical support for the Security Department in the forensic building.
- Create and update all security‑related databases, including tracking restraint, seclusion, and physical hold usage on all forensic and civil units.
- Maintain a tickler file to track due dates for required reports and responses, including those to OIG.
- Answer, screen, and forward communications for the Security Department.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the above responsibilities.
- High school completion and at least two (2) years of office experience.
- Keyboarding accuracy of at least 45 words per minute.
- Use of office equipment, including personal computers and Microsoft Office.
- Pass the IDHS background check.
- Pass a drug screen for substances prohibited from recreational use under Illinois law.

Work HoursMonday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm; 30‑minute unpaid lunch.
