Overview
We re hiring a Medical Assistant to join our outpatient dermatology clinic in Westminster, MD. The Medical Assistant will assist physicians and other providers by preparing procedure trays, ensuring adequate supplies for the department, and assisting with patient care.

Pay range: $17-22/hr, depending upon experience
Responsibilities- Greet and document patient intake.
- Obtain and record vital signs.
- Organize patient flow.
- Set up procedure trays, instruments, and equipment according to instructions.
- Assist providers with dermatology procedures.
- Prepare pathology/lab specimens and route to the correct lab as directed by the patient insurance plan.
- Respond to patient questions in the office and on the phone as instructed.
- Review and address clinical task lists and nurse line messages.
- Calibrate, clean, sterilize, and inventory all equipment and instruments per schedule; keep maintenance records.
- Maintain medication supplies, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records.
- Maintain infection control and ensure supply rooms and cabinets are stocked.
- Order, sort, restock, and inventory all supplies.
- Accurately document patient information and scribe provider notes in the EMR.
- Assist with administration of local anesthetic.
- Ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed promptly.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Able to triage patient concerns.
- Familiar with and compliant with OSHA/HIPAA, infection control, and Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.
- Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments.
- Experience administering injections.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Knowledge of office financial policies.
- Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.
- Able to operate standard office equipment (computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to work in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Must be able to travel to satellite offices as needed.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
- Ability to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or completion of a bachelor’s degree program in the pre-med or pre-physician assistant track preferred.
- CPR certification preferred.
- 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or other clinical patient care experience preferred.
- Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Moderate amount of talking, bending, twisting, reaching, and balancing.
- Use of hands and fingers.
- Talking and listening in person and on the telephone.
- Handling of materials such as paper, supplies, etc.
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
- Risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects.
