Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs registration and scheduling of outpatient appointments, charge entry, collection of co-pays and medical records functions. May perform referrals. Optimizes facility and professional collections. Processes release of medical records information. Answers telephone inquiries.

• Register and schedule outpatient appointments and perform related medical records duties.
• Enter charges and collect co-pays; support facility and professional billing processes.
• Handle referrals as needed and manage release of medical records information.
• Pull, refile and file records and reports; maintain file area organization and accuracy.
• Answer telephone inquiries and provide exemplary patient service.

• Formal working knowledge, equivalent to an Associate’s degree (2 years of college) or a related field; knowledge of a specialized field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology obtained through formal training or previous experience.
• 2 years experience in professional or hospital billing; 1-3 years of experience in related roles.
