Non-Smoking

The Town of Manalapan is a Non-Tobacco Workplace. Salary - Full Time Starting $33,280 Annually and Part Time $16.00 per hour.

General duty is security work in the protection of property through the general deterrent and high visibility staging in a security guard house and patrol. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant.

Job Duties

  • Exercise independent judgment in determining when there is reasonable suspicion to inform the police department of the activity.
  • Communicate effectively and coherently over law enforcement radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications.
  • Conduct visual and audio surveillance for extended periods of time.
  • Engage in limited security functions that include such things as working rotating shifts and walking on foot patrol.
  • Effectively communicate with people and demonstrate professionalism and composure when interacting with diverse and challenging personalities.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills in formal legal and administrative settings.
  • Extinguish small fires by using a fire extinguisher and other appropriate means.
  • Incorporate community policing philosophies in daily interaction with the community.
  • Prepare written reports for the police department.
  • Patrol areas of the Town by: car, on foot, ATV, Golf Cart, or bicycle.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (born or naturalized).
  • No conviction of felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or domestic violence.
  • Prior military service must have been completed with an Honorable Discharge.
  • Applicants must possess before the date of hire a valid State of Florida Driver's License.
  • The required license and related endorsement must be maintained during the term of employment.
  • Vision must be corrected to 20/40.
  • Florida D or G Security License or Certificate of Community Service Officer or Public Service Aid - Preferred
  • No more than three (3) moving violations(s) within the most recent three-year period.

Punctuality and regular attendance are essential functions of this position, as well as working mandatory shift hours, including days, nights, holidays, weekends, unscheduled overtime as needed and periodic call outs for both work-related and emergency-preparedness situations.
