Ducenta Squared Asset Management (“DSAM”) is a legacy fixed income asset manager headquartered in El Segundo, CA. Established in 2020 through the acquisition of Tortoise Credit Strategies, the firm traces its origins to a predecessor founded in 1984. DSAM currently manages $3.3 billion of assets on behalf of institutional and private wealth clients.
We're expanding our legal function and hiring at multiple levels to support our high-impact transactional, compliance, and regulatory needs. These roles report directly to our CEO, offering strategic influence in a collaborative, agile boutique environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert legal advice on transactional and litigation matters under US/New York law.
- Negotiate and manage transactions under Global Master Securities Lending Agreements (GMSLA), including with Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) and globally rated financial institutions.
- Advise on fixed income investments, with deep familiarity in government bonds, corporate bonds, securitized products (e.g., MBS, ABS, CMBS), and related structures.
- Support commercial real estate (CRE) debt and equity investments, particularly those involving Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs).
- Ensure regulatory compliance, navigate federal court procedures where relevant, and mitigate risks in global capital markets operations.
- Collaborate with investment, operations, and executive teams to drive strategic initiatives and protect the firm.
- 7–10+ years of relevant experience, including strong Wall Street, top-tier law firm, or financial services background in asset management, securities, fixed income, or related fields.
- Proven ability to handle complex matters independently, with solid expertise in GMSLA, fixed income products, CRE (debt/equity with RIA structures), and global markets.
- Balanced transactional/litigation experience, familiarity with federal procedures, and a strategic mindset for regulatory/compliance challenges.
- JD from an accredited school, active bar admission (CA/NY preferred); proactive learning approach and strong communication/analytical skills.
- 3–7 years of experience in transactional and/or litigation work, ideally with some exposure to securities, fixed income, asset management, financial services, or capital markets.
- Hands-on execution of transactions, compliance reviews, document drafting/negotiation, and advisory support under guidance from more senior team members or executives.
- Developing or solid knowledge of GMSLA, fixed income instruments (government/corporate bonds, securitized products), and CRE structures; federal procedures familiarity a plus.
- JD, bar admission (CA/NY preferred); demonstrated quick learning ability, attention to detail, enthusiasm for finance, and strong potential to grow in a fast-paced boutique setting.
All levels require a collaborative approach, attention to detail, and passion for finance and law in a boutique setting.
