Position SummaryAssist the General Counsel & Associate General Counsel with legal matters associated with operations of the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA), South Bay Lakers (NBA G League), LAL Property, LLC, and their subsidiaries and affiliates and related entities, including the matters described below.
Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities)- Primary responsibility for the drafting and review of rules for contests, sweepstakes, raffles, and other consumer promotions, and related promotional materials.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements to support internal business teams, including service agreements, facility use agreements, event agreements, production agreements, sponsorship agreements, license agreements, technology agreements, and NDAs.
- Prepare and review liability waivers and media releases for various events and activities.
- Assist with the preparation, review, and negotiation of agreements relating to artist, photographer, and influencer engagements.
- Support compliance efforts related to privacy, data protection and security, and other regulatory matters, including tracking and responding to data privacy requests.
- Collaborate with internal business teams to develop strategies for addressing legal issues and improving business processes, including compliance with NBA rules.
- Support senior in-house counsel and outside counsel on litigation matters.
- Assist with licensing, enforcement, and maintenance of organization-wide trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual property matters.
- Assist with insurance coverage, analysis, policies, risk management assessment and prevention, and related matters.
- Assist General Counsel and Associate General Counsel with corporate governance matters.
- Perform legal research and provide written and verbal legal advice as needed.
- Develop, update, and implement internal policies, processes, forms, and templates to support internal business teams.
- Provide operational support to Legal Department, including contract management, matter tracking, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Miscellaneous:
Such other matters as may be directed by the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, CFO, COO and President of Lakers. - Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Juris Doctor Degree from accredited law school required
- Licensed to practice law in California
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house
- Experience in sports, entertainment, and/or live events is strongly preferred

CompensationThe pay range for this role is $140,000 - $150,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications. In addition to those factors, we consider the relative pay of our current employees in similar positions when making a final offer.
