Overview

We’re looking for a pragmatic, detail-oriented Contracts Specialist to support CX2’s government and commercial contracting activities in a highly regulated environment. This role serves as the first line of review and operational execution for contracts, compliance, and regulatory requirements, helping the company move quickly while maintaining strong compliance and risk discipline. The Contracts Specialist will work cross-functionally with leadership and engineering, and will report to the Head of Contracting and Compliance.

This role includes administrative responsibilities that are integral to effective contracts and compliance operations. The Contracts Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, logs, trackers, and documentation, managing version control and repositories, coordinating reviews and follow ups, and supporting audit readiness and training administration. These administrative functions are compliance critical and directly enable risk management, regulatory adherence, and organizational efficiency.

This role does not provide general executive or office administrative support.

This role will be remote.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the initial point of review for contracts, NDAs/MNDAs, SOWs, amendments, proposals, and other related agreements.
  • Perform first-pass contract analysis to identify non-standard terms, compliance concerns, and escalation points
  • Draft initial redlines and prepares issue summaries
  • Support contract lifecycle administration, including documentation, tracking, and compliance monitoring
  • Track and document flow-down requirements from government customers and ensure visibility across subcontracts and internal practices
  • Research and support compliance with FAR, DFARS, ITAR/EAR, and agency specific requirements
  • Initiate and support export and trade compliance documentation, including license packages and supporting exhibits
  • Maintain authoritative logs and records for contracts, NDAs/MNDAs, redlines, and compliance artifacts
  • Support internal and external audits, government reviews, and due diligence by preparing documentation and maintaining audit-ready repositories
  • Assists with the administration and maintenance of the company wide contracting and compliance policies, templates, procedures, and workflows
  • Coordinate reviews and follow-ups with internal stakeholders, customers, industry, and government partners.
Required Skills
  • Minimum 3–7 years of experience in government contracting, contracts administration, compliance or regulated operations — ideally at a defense contractor, federally funded startup, or government agency.
  • Working familiarity with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and other regulatory frameworks relevant to U.S. defense contracting.
  • Experience reviewing and supporting contracts and agreements, including NDAs, SOWs, modifications, and subcontracts.
  • Strong organizational, research, and documentation skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to operate independently as a first line reviewer and exercise judgment on when to escalate issues
  • Highly organized, process-oriented, and capable of balancing compliance with speed in a startup environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational recommendations
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to work in an ITAR-regulated environment

  • To conform to US Government Regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or National or U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
