The Avionics Manufacturing Engineering intern will work side‑by‑side with our Manufacturing Engineers in developing, qualifying, and improving manufacturing systems for the reliable build of spacecraft avionics products. They will gain hands‑on experience with electronics manufacturing processes and to deliver process improvements that cut cycle time and increase first pass yield to support high‑rate space vehicle production. This role offers broad and in‑depth exposure to avionics products across many spacecraft subsystems and opportunities to make significant improvements to product design for manufacturability and process efficiency.
Responsibilities- Develop and improve manufacturing processes
- Create custom tools and production aids to reduce defects and cycle time
- Author procedures for the manufacturing of electromechanical assemblies
- Support assembly technicians with complex builds and test engineers with investigating test failures
- Generate analytical reports by gathering manufacturing metrics, organizing the data, and conducting performance analysis
- Junior or Senior standing in an Engineering Discipline from an ABET Accredited University
- GPA >3.0
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and policies and recommend changes to procedures
- Familiarity with manufacturing engineering principles and concepts such as machining, soldering, and mechanical assembly
- Past project experience involving the design and build of an electronics assembly or electromechanical mechanism
- Strong academic performance (preferred GPA of 3.0 or above)
- Exceptional organizational and collaboration skills as demonstrated through leadership positions on teams and/or in student or civic organizations
- Strong technical experiences as demonstrated through technical projects, research or engineering internships
- Exceptional communication skills and interest and enthusiasm related to engineering, aerospace and a career with Boeing
- Junior or Senior class standing
Applicants must be U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee). Additional positions may require obtaining U.S. Security Clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is required. All positions require compliance with U.S. export control requirements (22 C.F.R. 120.62). The role is 100% onsite, 1st shift.
Pay & BenefitsSummary pay range: $21.15 /hr – $35.58 /hr. The company provides a total rewards package including competitive base pay, variable compensation, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, and paid/unpaid time off. Pay based on candidate experience and qualifications.
