Propulsion Project Engineer

LOCATION: El Segundo, CA

JOB STATUS: Full Time

CLEARANCE: Active DoD Secret (TS/SCI preferred)

SALARY: 130,000 to 175,000

Join the U.S. Space Force Launch Enterprise SE&I 2 program—the premier systems engineering support contract for launch operations. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor bridging government, Aerospace Corp, and industry partners to ensure launch vehicle propulsion systems are designed, tested, verified, and successfully flown. You’ll apply your expertise across solid and liquid propulsion, rocket engines, and spacecraft propulsion integration to guarantee mission success.

Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM;
    Master’s preferred.
  • 10+ years of aerospace engineering experience with launch vehicle propulsion systems focus.
  • Expertise in solid/liquid propulsion, engine testing, procedures, anomaly resolution, and launch integration.
  • Proven experience with risk assessments and mitigation planning.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering across launch vehicle and spacecraft propulsion life cycles.
  • Experience supporting Space Force, NASA, NRO, LVCs, and Aerospace Corp programs.
  • Skilled in knowledge capture, process definition, training, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of briefing senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering IT systems (Jira, Confluence).
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Support customer acquisition functions: requirements development, RFPs, cost/technical/schedule/performance reporting.
  • Perform systems engineering across the full launch vehicle lifecycle, including requirements definition, design reviews, test reviews, risk management, pedigree tracking, hardware acceptance, verification, operations, anomaly resolution, and post-flight propulsion analysis.
  • Plan, coordinate, and brief Engineer Review Boards, program reviews, and technical meetings.
  • Conduct technical data management: data mining, reporting, and analysis for propulsion and launch vehicle subsystems.
  • Provide training, certification, and mentorship to engineering teams, including course development and peer review.
  • Collaborate with USAF System Program Offices, Aerospace Corp, Launch Vehicle Contractors (LVCs), subcontractors, and launch sites.
  • Prepare written evaluations, technical reports, and briefings for senior leadership.

Contribute to cutting-edge launch vehicle and spacecraft propulsion engineering for national security missions, working alongside top-tier engineers in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
