We are working with a fast-growing energy technology startup developing the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors
. Our mission is to deliver reliable, long-duration power anywhere it is needed- enabling critical infrastructure such as hospitals, data centers, remote installations, and defense applications to move beyond diesel generation.
They are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to play a key role in delivering a first-of-its-kind nuclear energy system. This position works closely with design, operations, and quality teams to develop and execute manufacturing processes for complex mechanical components and assemblies. The role carries significant ownership and impact, supporting both near-term demonstration hardware and future production scalability.
Responsibilities- Own manufacturing and inspection processes for critical mechanical components and assemblies
- Partner with design engineers to develop and refine production methods for complex mechanisms and structures
- Develop, qualify, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost requirements
- Create and maintain manufacturing specifications, fabrication instructions, and work travelers
- Manage manufacturing bills of materials (mBOMs)
- Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers and fabrication partners
- Plan and execute capital equipment, tooling, and facility layout upgrades
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing efficiency and product quality
- Support delivery of demonstration and test hardware in a highly regulated environment
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline
- 4+ years of experience manufacturing mechanical products in a production environment
- Experience working with complex, safety-critical, or highly regulated hardware systems
- Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline
- Hands-on experience with machining processes (milling, turning, grinding, EDM)
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience with inspection tools and systems, including manual gauges and CMMs
- Familiarity with non-destructive testing and evaluation methods
- Experience with custom machine or electromechanical system design (motors, actuators, linear motion, bearings, lifting/rigging)
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and bias toward execution
- Ability to collaborate effectively across design, manufacturing, and operations teams
