About this rolePicogrid is seeking a Harnessing Technician to help build the next generation of American defense technology. As a core member of Picogrid’s hardware engineering team, you will help define our engineering culture and product roadmap.
As a Harnessing Technician, you will work on the PCBAs and electrical systems powering Picogrid's current (e.g. Lander , Helios ) and future (unannounced) hardware platforms, enabling the deployment of unmanned and autonomous systems into operations around the world.
You will own the wire harness manufacturing process from blank‑sheet design to in‑field troubleshooting and work alongside Picogrid’s world‑class engineering team coming from companies including Space
X, Google, Twitter, and more.
Assume ownership over the harness manufacturing process, working with the rest of the engineering team in assembling, maintaining, and operating mechanical and electrical systems.
Obsess about quality, look for improvements that speed up and simplify processes.
Perform a variety of mechanical and wiring tasks, including repetitive and non‑repetitive fabrication, final end product assembly, and field maintenance.
Develop manufacturing jigs to increase speed and yield of harness manufacturing.
Follow electrical schematics and harness drawings, and complete wiring tasks including crimping, building harnesses, wiring switch gear, soldering SMT and through‑hole components.
Prepare and execute electrical and environmental test plans for PCBAs and end products.
Manage part inventory for harness and PCBA assembly processes.
Organize and maintain tooling and equipment involved in harness manufacturing.
Respect workplace safety guidelines and take LV DC safety seriously.
Travel 15‑25% of your time across interesting and unique parts of the country to perform equipment installations and servicing.
Some types of experiences we're especially excited to see:- 2+ years of experience with electrical/mechanical assembly
- Military, aerospace, or IC background
- Track record of leadership demonstrated through management, public service, community organizing, or similar experience
Base salary range: $70,000 - $120,000 per year. Base salary is just one part of your total compensation package at Picogrid.
