Guidance Navigation and Controls Engineer (Early Career) – Millennium Space Systems
Position located in El Segundo, CA. 100% onsite; 1st shift. 1‑2 year early‑career technical path.
Job SummaryThe Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) Team delivers the GNC subsystem for satellite programs or constellations. This role involves subsystem and system‑level analysis, sensor and actuator selection, flight‑control software (FCSW) development, and validation. Engineers contribute throughout the entire program lifecycle, providing mission and system design inputs, critical analysis products, software/algorithm development, and support to satellite integration and test (I&T) and on‑orbit operations.
PositionResponsibilities
- Deliver the GNC subsystem (hardware, software, and analysis) for a satellite program.
- Perform GNC subsystem design, analysis, software development, and component selection to meet program requirements.
- Support the development of GNC products.
- Interface with other satellite subsystems as well as mission/systems engineering and program management to ensure system‑level performance.
- Collaborate with a team of GNC engineers in support of the program, including decomposition and delegation of tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Strong GNC fundamentals and spacecraft system‑level knowledge.
- Ability to perform complex GNC system analyses of kinematics, dynamics, and control systems using existing and/or self‑developed tools.
- Ability to work independently to complete tasks.
- Ability to support activities (e.g., integration and test, mission operations) during off‑nominal hours when required.
- Requirement to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship).
- Master's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with spacecraft GNC design/analysis/test.
- Experience with spacecraft GNC sensors and actuators (e.g., star trackers, rate, accelerometer, magnetic field devices, momentum exchange devices).
- System‑level software integration and test experience.
- Satellite integration and test and on‑orbit operations experience.
- Strong understanding of classical and modern control theory, system‑level trade studies, architecture development, and systems integration & analysis.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
Must meet U.S. export control compliance. "U.S. Person" (citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee) is required for 120.15 and 120.62 compliance. U.S. Citizenship is required for a U.S. Security Clearance. Active TS/SCI clearance is preferred.

Total RewardsLevel 1: $74,800 – $110,000
Level 2: $88,400 – $130,000. Benefits include health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and paid/unpaid time away from work.
