Job Summary

The Astrodynamics Team is responsible for conducting a range of modeling, simulation, and analyses in areas such as space mission design, trajectory design, orbital maneuvers, orbit estimation, space debris collision and avoidance analyses, and space domain awareness. Engineers in the Astrodynamics group are integral throughout the entire program lifecycle, providing mission design inputs, maneuver plans to meet mission objectives, and console support for on-orbit operations.

They oversee the orbital Concept-of-Operations (CONOPS) from inception to on-orbit operations, and through to end‑of‑life disposal.

As an Astrodynamics Engineer, you will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for the Astrodynamics subsystem for a given program, study, or proposal. In addition to executing technical design, analysis, and operation, you may be responsible for project and technical management activities to support programs, ensuring that high‑quality work products are delivered on‑time.

In addition to your engineering responsibilities, as an experienced member of the team you will be expected to set the engineering standard for the Astro team, define methods, tools, and processes, mentor other members of the team, and develop the next generation of Astrodynamics engineering talent.

Position Responsibilities
  • Build, refine, deploy, and maintain astrodynamics tools to perform astrodynamics and orbit analyses
  • Determine and derive astrodynamics requirements to perform customer missions
  • Optimize spacecraft trajectories based on fuel, time, and/or performance characteristics
  • Develop tools and procedures for spacecraft mission execution
  • Perform station‑keeping operations on orbiting satellites
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and assurance of engineering quality for the team
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering, or other related technical or engineering discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in aerospace systems design, analysis, and/or operation

  • Experience with scientific computing software (e.g. MATLAB, Python, C++) and orbit design and simulation tools (e.g. GMAT, STK, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO)
  • Technical leadership experience, including requirements generation, delegation and management of technical tasks, and responsible engineering authority (REA) experience
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required after start
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • MS in astrodynamics, aerospace engineering, or other related technical or engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of industry experience in relevant roles
  • Experience with rendezvous and proximity operations and/or formation flight
  • Experience with orbit determination and parameter estimation techniques (Batch and Sequential Estimation, Angles Only, Range Measurements, etc.)
  • Experience with on‑orbit operations
  • Specialization in advanced orbital mechanics topics (e.g., trajectory optimization, relative motion maneuvering, orbit determination techniques, etc.)
  • Possess active TS/SCI clearance
