Our History

West Hills Community College District has a rich history of serving the educational needs of the west side of the San Joaquin Valley for more than 80 years. The district nearly 3,500 square miles with colleges in Lemoore and Coalinga, the Firebaugh Center and three child development centers throughout neighboring rural communities, and the Farm of the Future facility at the north end of Coalinga.

Summary

Lemoore College is seeking a full‑time, grant‑funded, non‑tenure position in Industrial Technology. Courses are designed to help students develop the fundamental skills they will need to meet their educational and career goals. The Industrial Technology program offers broad‑based preparation in industrial automation and manufacturing.

The successful candidate must be committed to serving students with diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities. Responsibilities include teaching introductory and foundational courses that support students in achieving their educational and career goals, as well as developing, reviewing, and enhancing curriculum to improve accessibility, relevance, and alignment with student needs and industry or workforce standards, including regulatory or accreditation requirements. Instructional delivery will incorporate current technology and pedagogy, including instructional technology and a variety of distance learning strategies such as face‑to‑face, online, hybrid, and video conference (two‑way interactive) formats.

The candidate will be expected to develop and implement innovative and non‑traditional instructional approaches to support student success.

Additional responsibilities include participation in instructional and departmental activities such as student recruitment and advising, student learning outcomes development, implementation and assessment, program review, and collaboration with full‑time and adjunct faculty on interdisciplinary initiatives, articulation, employer advisory committees, and college‑wide projects. Faculty are also expected to participate in college governance and required campus meetings, including Academic Senate service on standing councils, committees, and ad hoc task forces.

Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend courses, as well as instruction at off‑site locations such as correctional institutions through the Rising Scholars Program, high schools through the Dual Enrollment/Early College Program, and other community locations. Office hours are required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and assess innovative and diverse approaches to learning that improve student retention and success such as deploying learning communities, integrating learning technology, relying on evidence‑based practices, and various modalities such as online, hybrid, fast‑track, accelerated, etc.
  • Instruct and evaluate students effectively in the college classroom (for face‑to‑face, online, hybrid, video‑conference classes, etc.).
  • Instruct a full‑time load of courses in Industrial Technology. This will require traveling and teaching at various sites throughout the district’s service area.
  • Implement contemporary teaching methods that enhance learning and utilize technology in performing instructional and non‑instructional duties including Canvas or other learning management system(s); other software/computer‑aided instruction and multi‑media;
    Microsoft Office Suite;
    District student information management system(s) (Civitas); and District information management system(s) (Colleague).
  • Teaching courses consistent with the adopted course outline.
  • Work within and across disciplines to develop and implement guided pathways model to promote student success, completion, transfer readiness, and career preparation.
