Full Range: $75,535- $160,191 per year

Salary placement is based on education and experience per the approved salary schedule.

Our History

West Hills Community College District has a rich history of serving the educational needs of the west side of the San Joaquin Valley for more than 80 years. The district covers nearly 3,500 square miles with colleges in Lemoore and Coalinga, the Firebaugh Center. Under the name West Hills College Lemoore, Lemoore College became the 112th community college in 2002 and changed its name to Lemoore College in 2024.

Summary

Lemoore College is offering a full-time, tenure track position in English as a Second Language (ESL). The successful candidate must be dedicated to serving students of varying skill levels, be a discipline expert in the field, and will champion, innovate and provide dynamic pedagogical approaches focused on student success for English language learners.

The successful candidate must be committed to serving students with diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities. Responsibilities include teaching introductory and foundational courses that support students in achieving their educational and career goals, as well as developing, reviewing, and enhancing curriculum to improve accessibility, relevance, and alignment with student needs and industry or workforce standards, including regulatory or accreditation requirements. Instructional delivery will incorporate current technology and pedagogy, including instructional technology and a variety of distance learning strategies such as face-to-face, online, hybrid, and video conference (two-way interactive) formats.

The candidate will be expected to develop and implement innovative and non-traditional instructional approaches to support student success. Further responsibilities include assessment of student learning outcomes and efforts to ensure student learning.

Additional responsibilities include participation in instructional and departmental activities such as student recruitment and advising, student learning outcomes development, implementation and assessment, program review, and collaboration with full-time and adjunct faculty on interdisciplinary initiatives, articulation, employer advisory committees, and college-wide projects. Faculty are also expected to participate in college governance and required campus meetings, including Academic Senate service on standing councils, committees, and ad hoc task forces.

Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend courses, as well as instruction at off-site locations such as correctional institutions through the Rising Scholars Program, high schools through the Dual Enrollment/Early College Program, and other community locations. Office hours are required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and assess innovative and diverse approaches to learning that improve student retention and success such as deploying learning communities, integrating learning technology, rely on evidence-based practices, and various modalities such as online, hybrid, fast-track, accelerated, etc.
  • Instruct and evaluate students effectively in the college classroom (for face to face, online, hybrid, video-conference classes, etc.).
  • Instruct a full-time load of classes in ESL and related areas as assigned. This will require traveling and teaching at various sites throughout the district’s service area.
  • Implement contemporary teaching methods that enhance learning and utilize technology in performing instructional and non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, Canvas or other learning management system(s); other software/computer aided instruction and multi-media;
    Microsoft Office Suite;
    District student information management system(s) (Civitas); and District information management system(s) (Colleague).
