OverviewThe Senior Content Strategist plays a key role in supporting content strategy development, editing, implementation, and execution across multiple content categories to drive brand awareness, engagement, site traffic, and conversions. This individual collaborates closely with cross‑functional partners to implement multi‑platform content initiatives, support content planning and research, and ensure consistency in brand voice, SEO strategy, and audience engagement. This role also leads content development, optimization, and dissemination for scientific, medical, and academic publishing.
This includes ensuring accuracy, editorial quality, compliance with medical publishing standards, and alignment with organizational goals for journal and research‑based content.
- Assist in creating and editing high‑quality brand‑aligned content across multiple channels and formats.
- Collaborate with content leadership, creators, designers, and cross‑functional teams to gather content requirements and maintain brand alignment.
- Post content across platforms including social media and websites.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to support content insights and strategy.
- Support content audits and partner with SEO specialists to improve keyword tagging, metadata, search optimization, structure, and categorization.
- Use Google Analytics and Power BI to review traffic and performance trends.
- Support leadership in developing and executing multi‑platform promotion strategies.
- Stay informed on industry trends, platforms, emerging technologies, and content marketing best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Lead strategy, development, optimization, and execution of content for medical journals, research summaries, newsletters, and digital publishing channels.
- Collaborate with the Content Director and cross‑functional teams—including medical writers, peer‑review coordinators, and designers—to produce scientifically rigorous and ethically compliant content.
- Oversee manuscript‑to‑publication workflows, including metadata tagging, DOI management, indexing preparation, and compliance with COPE, ICMJE, and Pub Med/MEDLINE standards.
- Direct keyword strategy and SEO approaches specific to scholarly and medical content to enhance discoverability.
- Manage and align editorial calendars with journal schedules, scientific events, and publication priorities.
- Analyze content performance using medical/scientific analytics tools (Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Altmetric, etc.).
- Maintain content accuracy and timeliness within CMS platforms while ensuring compliance across journal communications.
- Conduct ongoing audits to maintain quality, consistency, and adherence to publishing standards.
- Stay informed on trends in open‑access publishing, indexing requirements, digital dissemination, and scientific communications.
- Mentor content staff to ensure consistent editorial execution and adherence to scientific publishing standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Journalism or Life Sciences and 8+ years of experience in content and digital marketing, digital communications, content strategy, editing, or related fields OR 10+ years of experience in marketing, digital communications, content strategy, editing.
- Strong task management, organization, and follow‑up skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills across different audiences.
- Strong understanding of content marketing and strategy implementation.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
- Superior organizational abilities and attention to detail in fast‑paced environments.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Creative problem‑solving skills and strong judgment.
- Strong project management abilities for complex, multi‑stage publication workflows.
