The Salary is $17.00 hourly, paid semi-monthly. The position is on call, as needed, and is classified as Non-Exempt under the FLSA.
The Hiring Department is Parking and Transportation Services. To be eligible, applicants must possess a valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger endorsement and be insurable as defined in the UT System BPM 16-05-02.
Finalists must successfully pass a motor vehicle record check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. This position is part-time and on an as-needed basis.
The Purpose of Position is to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation to all faculty, staff, and students.
Essential Functions include:
- Drives and operates University shuttle buses and other vehicles over assigned routes.
- Stops at designated points to load and unload passengers.
- Assists in the boarding of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids and properly secures wheelchairs and scooters.
- Provides service to students, employees, and visitors.
- Notifies dispatch of deviations, overload, accidents, passenger incidents, medical/behavioral problems, or bus mechanical/electrical trouble.
- Checks the condition of vehicles and reports needed adjustments or repairs.
- Performs minor maintenance, cleaning of vehicles, and fueling vehicles.
- Maintains mileage reports.
- Completes and submits written reports concerning passengers and all accidents.
- Complies with all State and University policies.
Required Qualifications include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), a valid driver’s license (CDL Class B with passenger endorsement), and at least six weeks of commercial driving experience.
Preferred Qualifications include two or more years of commercial driving experience and experience driving a bus and carrying passengers.
The Working Conditions require the employee to talk or hear regularly, stand, walk, and use hands to feel and reach with hands and arms frequently. The employee must occasionally sit, climb, or balance, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
