Position Summary

The NCAA Division I Strength Coach is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and oversight of strength and conditioning programs for student‑athletes across various sports. This role focuses on optimizing athletic performance, enhancing injury prevention strategies, and promoting overall physical development. The Strength Coach will work closely with coaching staff, athletic trainers, and student‑athletes to ensure safe and effective training practices that align with the goals of the athletic program.

The primary accountabilities listed below describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not exhaustive. Incumbents may perform all or some of these responsibilities. Specific tasks or duties will be outlined by the immediate supervisor. This position is security‑sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence and insurability as defined in the UT System UTS 157 is required.

of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strength and Conditioning Program Development:
    Assist in the creation, implementation, and supervision of year‑round strength, conditioning, and agility programs for all student‑athletes in multiple sports. Monitor individual athlete progress and adjust programs as needed.
  • Injury Prevention and Recovery:
    Collaborate with athletic training staff to ensure safe and effective programs designed to minimize injury and aid in recovery. Provide guidance on rehabilitation exercises and fitness testing.
  • On‑ and Off‑Campus Athlete Recruitment:
    Assist in the recruitment of prospective student‑athletes by evaluating physical performance, fitness levels, and conditioning. Promote the strength and conditioning program to potential recruits.
  • Monitoring Athletic Performance:
    Regularly assess student‑athletes’ physical and performance metrics using testing data, video analysis, and other tools. Provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Education and Training:
    Educate student‑athletes on proper strength training techniques, nutrition, recovery, and other performance‑related topics. Conduct workshops or seminars for student‑athletes on improving overall athletic performance.
  • Coaching and Leadership:
    Provide guidance, leadership, and mentorship to student‑athletes on and off the field. Foster a positive, disciplined environment that emphasizes teamwork, responsibility, and integrity.
  • Assist in Program Administration:
    Support the scheduling of training sessions, events, and conditioning activities. Manage equipment, facility usage, and ensure the proper maintenance and safety of all training equipment.
  • Collaboration with Sports Medicine:
    Work closely with the athletic trainers to coordinate rehabilitation and recovery plans for injured athletes. Ensure compliance with safety protocols for strength training.
  • Compliance with NCAA Regulations:
    Ensure all training and conditioning programs comply with NCAA rules and regulations. Attend required NCAA compliance seminars and complete necessary forms and reports in a timely manner.
  • Community Engagement:
    Actively engage with the local community to promote the athletics program. Participate in camps, clinics, and outreach activities that benefit the university and local youth sports organizations.
  • Technology and Data Management:
    Utilize technology and software programs to track athletic performance, analyze data, and adjust training programs accordingly.
  • Additional Duties:
