Purpose of this position
:
Perform the primary functions of a nurse in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care in the Emergency Room.
- Plan, prioritize, and provide proficient, age-specific and developmentally/specialty-appropriate nursing care by applying advanced clinical nursing knowledge and skills to ensure the comfort and safety of patients/families.
- Documentation: complete accurate, concise, and legible medical records.
- Observe and record signs, symptoms, and behaviors including physiological status of patients.
- Propose revisions to interventions and desired outcomes.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
- Follow physician’s orders in the delivery of nursing care.
- Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies, procedures, COLA and CLIA regulations.
- Adhere to infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques in patient care.
- Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
- Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
- Assemble equipment and supplies for procedures in the specialty service area; assist with procedures and treatments as needed; comply with all policies and standards of nursing care.
- Perform Quality Assessment activities and document findings.
- Attend staff or mandated meetings as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Education/Certification
:
Associate’s Degree required; BSN preferred. - Licensure
:
Current state RN license without sanctions, required. - Experience
: 2+ years of full-time RN experience in ER or comparable setting, required. - Certifications
:
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS from the American Heart Association, required; ENPC may substitute for PALS; TNCC preferred. - English
:
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
