Specialist - Geriatric Medicine

Your new role:

The Princess Alexandra Hospital Geriatric Medicine Unit are looking for a Staff Specialist to join their team. This role will provide specialist clinical care to older patients with a focus on geriatric rehabilitation. Assume overall responsibility for patient care. Supervise and teach registrars, junior doctors and medical students, and teach other members of the multidisciplinary team. Participate in and/or lead research and quality improvement activities.

The Geriatric and Rehabilitation Unit is a 78 bed post‑acute facility providing geriatric evaluation and management (GEM), general and geriatric rehabilitation and specialist dementia care within a purpose‑built facility at a major teaching hospital. It provides consultation liaison services to the general hospital including specialist stroke services, orthogeriatric services and comprehensive geriatric assessment in addition to outreach support to rural hospitals via telegeriatrics.

It hosts general geriatric outpatient clinics include a dedicated falls and memory clinic. The unit is a premier training and research site with close links to the Centre for Health Services Research within the University of Queensland.
