Do you believe that unconditional love can make magic happen? Are you drawn to help in foster care, even if unconventionally? Are you gifted in the art of facilitating relationships?
Fostering Hope is a unique nonprofit that provides teams of volunteers who offer the practical and emotional support foster families need to thrive-like aunts and uncles. Our goal is to create the kind of loving, stable home environment that allows children with trauma to heal, and our 20-year track record proves it works; foster parents hang in there longer and their youth consistently achieve better outcomes in school, employment, and life.
As a Core Coordinator, you will facilitate these life-changing connections by recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer teams from communities of faith, creating a vital space where loving service happens and youth can flourish.
The ideal candidate possesses the intuitive and wisdom to see the dignity of the person behind the challenges of trauma and the relational attunement to facilitate diverse volunteer teams. Because relational stability is the heartbeat of our success, we are looking for a steady, undeterred professional who is committed to growing within this position for at least two years.
Our Core Beliefs- We provide teams of “extended family” to ensure emotional and practical support.
- We prioritize relational attunement to facilitate connections where youth and families can flourish.
- We empower foster parents to identify their own needs and learn how to accept help.
- We promote non-judging, empathic service to local foster families.
- We attune to the emotional and relational issues between volunteers and foster parents to minimize attrition and deepen service.
- Recruit, train, and coach teams of volunteers to ensure emotional and practical support for local foster families.
- Provide facilitation and coaching for foster parents as they navigate the identification of needs and the vulnerability of accepting help.
- Attune to the emotional and relational dynamics between volunteers and foster parents to promote relational growth and minimize fatigue.
- Present the program to diverse faith communities in Colorado Springs, helping volunteers utilize their faith as a resource for the uncertainty inherent in the foster care world.
- Coordinate with DHS, CPAs, and the courts to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and manage diverse schedules to ensure consistent, reliable support for our families.
- Experience in child welfare; deep knowledge of the foster care system and the impact of maltreatment on children.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master of Social Work preferred. Will consider other similar education if accompanied by significant experience with the child welfare system.
- Strong relational skills with a reliance on the healing power of relationships as a guiding approach.
- Previous experience working with and supporting volunteers is highly helpful.
- High comfort level and respect for diverse religious traditions within the El Paso County community.
- A self-starter who can provide direction and organization despite chaotic circumstances.
- Comfortable with the slow and often messy nature of healing and growth.
