Job Description OverviewA large acute care hospital in West Texas is seeking an experienced Neonatal ICU Director to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for a Level III NICU and Transition Nursery. This role oversees a high-acuity neonatal program, including NICU transport services, and is responsible for quality outcomes, staff development, financial performance, and service line growth.
This opportunity is ideal for a NICU nursing leader with strong neonatal clinical expertise, proven leadership capability, and experience managing complex neonatal services.
Responsibilities- Provide 24/7 leadership oversight and operational accountability for the NICU, Transition Nursery, and NICU Transport program
- Direct day-to-day operations, staffing, productivity, and workflow management
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost containment, and capital planning initiatives
- Develop and maintain staff competency, engagement, and satisfaction across neonatal services
- Oversee quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards
- Promote multidisciplinary collaboration across nursing, neonatology, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, laboratory, and support services
- Support outreach, program development, and community engagement initiatives
- Manage human resources functions including hiring, coaching, performance management, and staff development
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Active RN license (Texas or compact state)
- Current BLS certification
- Current S.T.A.B.L.E. certification
Preferred:
- Prior leadership experience in a NICU or neonatal service line
- Experience overseeing NICU transport services
