Position Summary

Operates, maintains, and repairs the physical structures within designated areas (including the Don Haskins Center and other campus venues) and keeps internal and exterior entry areas of buildings clean and orderly. Maintains a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment for students, faculty, staff, and customers.

Statement Of Duties And Responsibilities
  • Event preparation: prepare facilities (e.g., Don Haskins Center) for student, university, or public functions.
  • Setup & moving: move and assemble furniture, chairs, tables, computer equipment, stage, risers, floor pieces, platforms, often involving heavy lifting.
  • Maintenance & repair: notify supervisor of major or minor repair needs and perform minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.
  • Painting & surface prep: refine surfaces, remove old paint, prepare drywall through taping, bedding, or plastering.
  • Transportation: drive vehicle to transport crew and equipment to work sites; pick up supplies; perform minor vehicle maintenance.
  • Exterior maintenance: maintain parking lots, crosswalks, curbs; power wash patios and walls.
  • Equipment operation: operate compressors, floor scrubbers, steamers, power sprayers, vacuums, blowers, etc.
  • Specialized care: care for specialized facility equipment, including courts and fields.
  • Window cleaning: wash windows, door panels, and sills; use lift if needed.
  • Security: open and close campus buildings as required.
  • Custodial duties: sweep, mop, scrub, wax, polish, vacuum floors, hallways, stairs, office space, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, conveyors, elevators, showers, locker rooms, weight rooms, gyms, decks; clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, blinds; dust furniture; wash walls; empty wastebaskets; transport trash; maintain cleaning supplies.
  • Communication: may be required to carry a two‑way radio.
  • Software: know Microsoft Office and institutional software systems.
  • Compliance: comply with all State and University policies.
Qualifications Education

Less than high school education.

Experience

One year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information Physical Demands

Regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl. May lift up to 50 lbs and frequently up to 100 lbs. Vision required: close, distance, color, focus adjustment.

Work Environment

Wet and humid conditions; exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes, chemicals, electrical shock, vibration. Noise moderate to loud.
