Overview

We’re looking for a skilled paralegal to support our Immigration & Criminal Law Division and play a critical role in life-changing cases. Responsibilities- Case Preparation & Legal Research: Conduct in-depth legal research using tools such as Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, and similar databases to support criminal defense and crimmigration cases.
- Legal Drafting: Draft affidavits, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with precision and attention to detail.
- Case File Management: Compile, organize, review, and summarize case files, discovery, and evidence to assist attorneys in developing strong defense strategies.
- Calendar & Deadline Management: Manage case calendars, schedule hearings, track critical deadlines, and ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Court Support & Trial Preparation: Provide administrative and logistical support during trial preparation, including attending court hearings as required.
- Vouchering & Court-Appointed Cases: Prepare and submit vouchers for federal and state court-appointed cases for court approval.
- Client & Court Communication: Maintain consistent communication with clients, witnesses, and court personnel to facilitate information flow and case progress.
- Ethics & Confidentiality: Uphold strict confidentiality and ethical standards in all client and case matters.

Collaboration:
Perform additional duties as assigned and collaborate closely with attorneys and legal staff to support the firm’s success.
- Associate’s degree or Paralegal Certificate required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Criminal Defense Paralegal
- Strong understanding of Texas criminal law and legal procedures
- Proficiency in legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, etc.)
- Experience with case management and calendaring systems
- Exceptional drafting, proofreading, and document review skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex legal information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases under tight deadlines
- High level of professionalism, empathy, and discretion with clients
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Word, Excel)
