* Job Description:

** At Wannamaker Cr immigration, we are seeking a skilled and organized Criminal Defense Paralegal to join our team. This individual will play a vital role in supporting our attorneys and efficiently managing our criminal defense and immigration cases. The successful candidate will excel in research, documentation, and case management, providing invaluable assistance in our mission to deliver exceptional legal services.
** Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
*** Conduct thorough legal research and compile case files to support attorneys in their work.
* Draft various legal documents, such as affidavits, motions, and briefs, to facilitate legal proceedings.
* Provide administrative support to attorneys during trial preparation, including assistance with scheduling and attending court hearings as required.
* Manage case calendars, schedule hearings, and monitor critical deadlines to ensure timely and efficient handling of cases.
* Vouchering federal and state court-appointed cases for submission and court approval
* Review and summarize case documents and evidence to aid attorneys in building strong arguments and analyzing relevant information.
* Maintain regular communication with clients, witnesses, and court personnel to facilitate information exchange and keep all parties informed.
* Uphold confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards at all times, ensuring the integrity and privacy of legal matters.
* Perform additional duties as assigned by the legal team to support their efforts and contribute to the firm's overall success.
** Skills/Abilities:
*** Expertise in conducting detailed legal research using tools like Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, or similar databases to gather pertinent information for case preparation.
* Strong skills in drafting legal documents, including affidavits, motions, briefs, and summarizing case documents and evidence with attention to detail.
* Competency in managing case calendars, scheduling, tracking deadlines, and ensuring timely completion of tasks. Familiarity with case management software is preferred.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, attorneys, witnesses, and court personnel.
* Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information, identify key issues, and support attorneys in developing case strategies.
* Skilled in prioritizing and handling multiple cases simultaneously under tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy and efficiency.
* Demonstrated ability to work professionally with clients, showing empathy, patience, and confidentiality, particularly in sensitive or high-stakes cases.
* Strong commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining strict confidentiality in all client and case matters.
* Ability to adjust to changing priorities and manage unexpected developments within fast-paced legal proceedings.
* Meticulous attention to detail in reviewing legal documents, managing case files, and following up on legal procedures to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
* Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite/Google Suite, which includes Google Docs, Google Sheets, Word, and Excel
** Education/

Experience:

*** Associate’s degree or Paralegal Certificate required;
Bachelor’s degree
* preferred.
* Minimum of [3 years] of experience as a criminal defense paralegal.
* Strong understanding of legal concepts and Texas criminal law.
* Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
