Overview
Job Title:
Medical Laboratory Technician
Location: Soldier Readiness Processing Center (SRP), William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC), 18511 Highlander Medics St, Fort Bliss, TX 79906, and outlying clinics.

Start Date:
1 April 2026
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, (SRP operational hours). Up to 48 mission-driven overage hours per FTE may be required annually beyond regularly scheduled duty hours, as authorized by the Government.
Qualifications- Education:
Associate degree or certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program. - Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience within the last two (2) years working as a Medical Laboratory Technician in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting.
- Experience performing routine laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and serology.
- Experience processing, testing, and reporting laboratory specimens in support of medical evaluations.
- Experience following laboratory quality control and specimen handling procedures.
- License / Certification:
- Medical Laboratory Technician certification through a nationally recognized certifying body (e.g., ASCP or AMT), or certification/registration as required by the issuing state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.
- Other Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required.
- Support Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) laboratory operations by performing laboratory testing required for mobilization, demobilization, redeployment, and separation processing.
- Receive, process, and analyze laboratory specimens including blood, urine, and other clinical samples in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform routine laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and serology to support medical readiness determinations.
- Verify specimen integrity, patient identification, and test orders prior to analysis.
- Operate laboratory analyzers and equipment used during SRP operations and report results to supervising laboratory personnel.
- Identify abnormal or critical results and promptly notify appropriate clinical or laboratory staff.
- Maintain laboratory workflow to support required SRP processing timelines and patient throughput.
- Perform quality control checks and document results in accordance with laboratory procedures.
- Accurately document testing activities and results in MHS GENESIS or other Government-designated laboratory systems, as directed.
- Support surge laboratory operations during peak MOB/DEMOB cycles, including extended duty hours when mission required.
