Overview
Job Title:
Audiology Technician
Location: Soldier Readiness Processing Center (SRP), William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC), 18511 Highlander Medics St, Fort Bliss, TX 79906, and outlying clinics.
Tentative Start Date: 1 April 2026
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, (SRP operational hours). Up to 48 mission-driven overage hours per FTE may be required annually beyond regularly scheduled duty hours, as authorized by the Government.
Qualifications- Education:
High school diploma or GED;
Completion of an occupational hearing conservationists’ course or training and certification obtained through the Army, Navy, or Air Force hearing programs. - Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience within the last two (2) years working as an Audiology Technician or Hearing Technician in a clinical or medical setting.
- Experience conducting hearing screening tests and operating audiometric testing equipment.
- Experience assisting audiologists during hearing evaluations and readiness-related auditory assessments.
- License / Certification:
- Certification as a Hearing Conservationist by the Council of Accreditation of Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOCH) is highly desired but not required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.
- Other Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required.
- Support Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) hearing operations by assisting with audiology services for service members undergoing mobilization, demobilization, redeployment, and separation.
- Conduct hearing screening tests, including pure-tone audiometry and other readiness-related auditory screenings, as directed.
- Prepare service members for audiology evaluations by collecting relevant hearing history and positioning patients for testing.
- Operate and maintain audiometric testing equipment in accordance with clinic protocols.
- Assist audiologists during hearing evaluations by managing test flow and supporting examination activities.
- Prepare, clean, and reset audiology testing areas and equipment between patients to support high-volume SRP throughput.
- Escort service members through audiology processing stations and ensure timely movement through SRP hearing workflows.
- Accurately document screening results and assigned support activities in MHS GENESIS or other Government-designated systems, as directed.
- Support surge audiology operations during peak MOB/DEMOB cycles, including extended duty hours when mission required.
