The Psychiatric Nursing Assistant II (PNA II) performs moderately complex (journey-level) rehabilitative patient care services under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing patient care services, emergency, health, and personal care; interacting therapeutically with patients; observing, reporting, and documenting patient conditions and behaviors in an electronic record;
- Maintaining direct and ongoing therapeutic interactions to promote living and social skills, supporting progress toward a less restrictive environment;
- Participating in shift reports and recovery team meetings; performing delegated nursing duties commensurate with competency;
- Guidance and preceptorship as needed; working under general supervision with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment;
- Participating in unit-based and hospital-wide committees focused on quality improvement and patient safety;
- Handling duties that may include disaster response, COOP activation, and alternate shift patterns; participating in activities that support agency obligations;
- Teaching and supporting recovery plans, group facilitation, and patient participation in programs;
- Responding to crisis using least restrictive interventions (TIPS) under RN supervision; CPR/AED skills as required;
- Assisting RN with medication monitoring, vital signs, and other tasks within competency;
- Maintaining documentation clarity and timeliness; communicating effectively with team members.
