General DescriptionThe purpose of this job is to serve as a community liaison between law enforcement and other community partnerships with Emergence Health Network, by assisting implementing and sustaining the Crisis Intervention Team as a community program. Examines, reviews and makes recommendations to ensure departmental and community needs are met. Ensures goals of the CIT program beyond those of training are met such as enhancing service and safety.
Represents departmental internal interests and community partnerships.
This class works independently, under supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Duties And Responsibilities- Serves as the contact for CIT trainings and networking.
- Coordinates for CIT trainings and on-going CIT in-service.
- Coordinates CIT program presentation output and outcome data to police leadership and community steering committee.
- Updates a systematic approach to collecting program output and event outcome measures.
- Meets regularly with CIT community steering committee and law enforcement leadership.
- Collaborates with Community Partners to promote and sustain the CIT program.
- Works collaboratively with 911 local communication systems and dispatch.
- Assists in developing and reviewing CIT policies and procedures, and CIT training curriculum.
- Maintains continuous working relationships with all community partners, with specific emphasis on mental health and advocacy partnerships.
- Reviews and monitors state commitment laws and transportation policies.
- Monitors state, county, and local issues that may affect community crisis services.
- Maintains familiarity with federal, state, and county CIT grant requirements.
- Maintains records and enrollments of all trainers, QMHPs, LPHAs, and DSPs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, in Psychology, Social Work or a behavioral health related field supplemented by two (2) years of casework experience, or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training and crisis intervention services and crisis law enforcement.
Experience with trauma-informed services; cognitive behavioral therapies, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); and motivational therapies including the use of incentives, preferred.
Required Knowledge And AbilitiesKnowledge of trauma-informed theories, principals, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma, parallel processes, and universal precautions), preferred.
Physical DemandsPerforms sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment)- Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
- Bright/dim light;
Dusts and pollen. - Extreme heat and/or cold;
Wet or humid conditions. - Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.
- Vibration;
Fumes and/or noxious odors. - Traffic;
Moving machinery. - Electrical shock;
Heights. - Violence.
- Other extreme hazards not listed above.
- Certified in TCOLE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement) Instructor preferred or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- Must be able to be credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Practitioner Community Service (QMHP-CS) within the timeframe designated by EHN.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to pass a TB, criminal background and drug screen.
