Summary
The Psychiatric Nursing Assistant II (PNA II) performs moderately complex rehabilitative patient care services work. It provides patient care services under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure quality psychiatric nursing care in an inpatient setting. Responsibilities include emergency, health, and personal care services to patients; therapeutic interaction; observation, reporting, and documentation in an electronic record; and participation in individualized and unit‑based programming.
The PNA II maintains direct and ongoing therapeutic interactions to promote living and social skills, encouraging progression toward a less restrictive environment. As an integral member of the recovery team, the PNA II records verbal and supportive documentation related to individual patient behavior and progress toward individualized goals. The role participates in shift reports and recovery team meetings, performs delegated nursing duties commensurate with competency, and may provide guidance to the PNA Is.
Work requires moderate complexity with well‑defined decision‑making guidelines. The PNA II has no financial responsibility but is accountable for assigned property. Duties, location, and shift patterns may change to meet hospital needs and may expose the employee to blood or other potentially infectious materials. The employee has access to a limited set of records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Attends work on a regular basis and may be asked to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, rotating, extended, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy. Performs other duties as assigned.
