Job Description SummaryWe are looking for a Microbiologist (Specialist I) to support El Paso’s Quality Control Laboratory by performing microbiological testing on raw materials, in‑process and finished products, and stability samples to meet growing customer demand and achieve QC testing delivery goals.
Responsibilities- Perform microbiological testing on raw materials, in‑process and finished products, and stability samples according to applicable procedures.
- Collect environmental samples and conduct analysis according to site procedures; maintain environmental trending data.
- Assist in completing project protocols, change notifications, deviation waivers and Quality Notifications under supervision.
- Perform assigned projects and tasks; compile testing data and review results.
- Maintain the Microbiology Laboratory, order supplies, reagents and materials as needed.
- Support equipment maintenance and calibration activities.
- Understand lab safety and hazardous waste management; maintain laboratory safety procedures.
- Clean and maintain laboratory areas and equipment according to procedures.
- Support investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Maintain laboratory logbooks and records according to Good Documentation Practices.
- Perform Microbiology Lab activities as assigned by lab supervisor or Quality Manager to achieve QC testing delivery goals.
- Maintain Microbiology Lab audit readiness.
- Comply with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
- Comply with all BD quality policies and procedures through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related field is required.
- 2 years of experience in a Microbiology laboratory in a pharmaceutical or biotech/aseptic filling environment is preferred.
At BD, we prioritize on‑site collaboration and require a minimum of 4 days of in‑office presence per week for most roles, while recognizing the importance of flexibility. Remote or field‑based positions may have different workplace arrangements, which will be indicated in the posting.
