Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Science in Food, from an accredited college/university plus three (3) years work experience as a Registered Dietitian or related field.
Licenses and CertificatesRegistered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association and licensed in the State of Texas. Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state.
Responsibilities- Under administrative direction, manages Women, Infants and Children’s (WIC) Program operations in compliance with local, state and federal laws, ordinances, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Administers a group of WIC centers including management and supervision of the assigned Certifying Authority and related centre's resources.
- Provides high‑risk counseling to WIC participants.
- Plans and develops complex and specialized management activities for improving compliance, quality assurance operations, WIC participation, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion, social service referrals, immunizations, training, safety and quality assurance.
- Prepares and monitors annual goals to ensure activity efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provides daily support to clinics, assisting all areas of clinic operations including assignment of personnel.
- Prepares routine and special reports and disseminates literature and information regarding program activities and objectives.
- Monitors program activities and analyzes results to determine performance levels and improvement methods.
- Provides guidance to staff to ensure client services are accurate, empathetic, courteous and timely.
- Investigates complaints and resolves client problems related to customer service, dietary and nutrition services under local, state and federal standards.
- Develops, obtains approval for and implements program policies and procedures.
- Coordinates program activities, committee meetings, agendas and minutes.
- Ensures that assigned staff has adequate supplies and equipment to accomplish tasks.
- Plans and implements contractual requirements from service delivery objectives to annual budget administration.
- Assesses, determines, implements, monitors and evaluates program performance to determine compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of nutrition education operations.
- Provides consultation and technical assistance related to nutrition to other agencies and institutional programs.
- Plans and coordinates nutrition studies and research, cooperating with other division efforts to enhance understanding, information and trend analysis.
- Coordinates and supervises activities of staff involved in nutrition programs.
- Directs development and evaluation of training sessions to upgrade nutrition knowledge of customers, staff and health‑care providers.
- Assesses personnel needs, recommends staffing patterns, and interviews applicants to fill vacancies.
- Supervises assigned staff; schedules, assigns, instructs, guides and checks work; appraises employee performance; provides training and development; enforces personnel rules and regulations; motivates and maintains harmony.
